"I was hungry and you fed Me, thirsty and you gave Me drink, naked and you clothed Me, a stranger and you took Me in, sick and you visited Me, in prison and you came to Me." These words speak not only of our charitable obligations to others but also of our relationship to the Lord. Is the Lord ever hungry or thirsty, naked or homeless, sick or in prison?

A seven-part sermon series given in conjunction with the 2010 Journey Program, "Living Courageously". The task for this week is: Determine your higher purpose and live it with passion. Make a commitment to act from a higher truth. Ask God for the power to bring it into your life with energy and focus. Then live it with passion.

Do You Have an Upper Room?

Everything was going well in Zarephath. The flour and the oil did not run out. The widow and her son had plenty of cakes to eat. But the celebration of the miracle did not last long. The widow's son fell ill and was close to death. Elijah carried the dying boy to an "upper room" and brought him back to life.

What was so special about that upper room? Is there an upper room in your life?

Keep It in the Middle

A story: Last week I accepted an invitation to play nine holes of golf. One of my partners was 90 years old, and he out shot every one of us. His method was simple. A very easy swing, and a mental focus which said, &"Keep it in the middle." No slicing to the right and no hooking to the left.

In this talk, we will see how this might apply to our spiritual lives. "Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all that Moses my servant commanded you; Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go." (Joshua 1:1:7)
